Que Ahora

What a day!! I had a kid pee on me at the orphanage today it was so nice and warm on my freshly washed pants 🙂 (Yes mom I hear you laughing right now) Anywho aside from a couple events it was typical day for the most part. I went to the bakery to order a cake for my last day at work. Imagine me trying to explain a strawberry cake for 20 people with writing on it. You can probably guess it was pretty hilarious. Atleast the women working were entertained instead of labeling me as a stupid American. It is so funny how idiotic you can feel when you cant communicate with people. For all they know I have the education of a second grader, and I am not going to lie, when I was attempting to order that cake I felt like a second grader. I used every possible form of non-verbal communication that I could think of. Cant wait to see how the cake turns out lol.

Tomorrow is my last full day in Xela. I am going with two other volunteers to the market about 20 minutes away. I guess it is huge. They have everything from food , clothes, and even a nice selection of livestock. Does anyone want me to bring them back a goat, maybe a few chickens? It should be interesting to see. Vendors from the local villages usually get all of their products from the larger markets like this one, and then sell them from a profit to those that arent willing to make the trip.

In the afternoon I have my last Spanish lesson, cant say I am anywhere near fluent but I have made some improvement. My teacher senses my frustration. It is especially difficult because she speaks NO English so whenever I have a question we both have to dig through our Spanish-English dictionaries to try to figure it out. Good times.

A few of us our going to go out for a couple Gallo’s (aka Guatemalan Budweiser). Probably my last night to see everyone since tomorrow involves a lot of packing etc …

Hey Homie,As you might imagine i am currently at lear working on random assignments that, from a worldly perspective, are of little importance (good times)! i will admit I haven’t kept up with your blogs but i did just spend the last 30 minutes reading all of them. your experience, from what I can tell, sounds much like my 10 days spent traveling through poverty stricken Nicaragua. I’m so proud of you and happy that you did this – im sure you can already tell how much you have changed. However this does not get you out of beer, wine, etc and ridiculous indulgence at the riv on thursday’s. can’t wait to see ya – phil bought a car in Australia! Much love & travel safely Zack Attack
