Florence

Finally to a place where I can walk around with a tank top and not be freezing. Cheers to that. I took the night train to Florence and at 4AM a groupd of four girls from Nigeria came in my bunk and were so loud. All I wanted to do was sleep but I decided to converse for a bit – they asked all the “normal” questions like – are your parents rich, are you a christian, do you love money … needless to say I felt a little violated. As the train staff came by looking for tickets they conveniently fell fast asleep trying not to pay … I dont suggest it, it didnt work.

I got into Florence yesterday at 9AM, dropped my things off at the hostel and set out for another sight seeing adventure. I saw the famous statue of David, Saint Maria Cathedral, the Ponte Veccio (huge bridge with three arches that has tons of shops on it), and all the other must sees. Afterwards my feet led me to the top of Florence, where the view was beautiful. There I visited Monte alle Croci which is a huge cemetary with inset gravestones as well as huge memorials. On my way back down an Italian man stopped me for the time, odd because he had a watch on. He asked me if I spoke Italian – No, French – a little. He then said I should tour the city with him for the day and we could speak French together. Again I gladly declined, wasnt worth the free lunch and wine. So … I began my descent back down to the river where I ventured off to Palazzo Pitti which is a huge (two square blocks?) museum which houses the Bolloli Gardens. The gardens were enormous I could have gotten lost in there for days – but I had to check into my hostel so I only stayed until 4PM.

I like to call Florence a huge maze. The streets are angled and randomly join each other at their free will. Everytime I think I know where I am going I end up being completely wrong, but I get to see more that way so it has worked out thus far. I did a lot of people watching today and never missed my canvas and paint so much!!!

It is now Thursday morning and I just picked up Angie from the train station. I am going to take her on speedy Florence tour and then we catch a train to Rome.

Love from the Cherrettie sisters πŸ™‚

P.S. Adam thanks for the message … your right facebook marriages are the real thing, these Italians got nothing on you!!!

P.S.S. Carol the traveling comments were entirely sarcastic, Angie just informed me of the USA gossip. Anyhow shame on my mother for not explaining my sarcastic nature. Oops.

Hello Girls! Glad Angie made it with no or very little troubles. (Other than swollen ankles, and not being able to sit down). It must of been a slow week in gossip if you two were talking about your mom and me. haha I’m anxious to hear what you think of Rome. What are the sounds and the smells like there? It seems so overwhelming. (The Forum and Coliseum must be huge. Did you make it to those?) Enjoy! Carol PS I’m honored to have been mentioned in your blogging twice now. πŸ™‚ PSS I can’t believe those Italian/French men are cuter than the boys from Trowbridge Heights. (wink/wink)
