“Do you want one bed or two?”
“Two please.”
“Oh, I thought the two of you would want one bed.”
“We are sisters, we aren’t dating. Two beds would be awesome.”
“I know, I can tell you’re sisters. You are both hitting on me.”
After five and a half hours on the road and a bit of car trouble, Angie and I still had game. At least the front desk attendant at the Lazy Lizard Hostel thought so. When we arrived there were no more cabins available so we were given “special” accommodations at “Grandma’s House” down the road. When we entered our home for the evening it felt like we were walking straight into 1972. As a girl who believes she was born in the wrong decade, it suited me just fine.
This morning we showered up and scooted over to Love Muffin Café where we feasted on one kick ass vegan burrito – the Veerrito. The tofu and potatoes, perfectly seasoned. The salsa, spicy enough to justify passing on Cholula. The side of avocado, a perfect addition, as always. I have to say, it was probably the best meal I’ve had on the road thus far. Kudos Love Muffin.
Upon chugging the last two ounces of coffee from my mug, we were out. Arches National Park awaited us. Stocked up on water, Asian pears and tamari almonds we jumped in the Bonneville and headed up the road. The next six hours delivered epic views, good conversation and sun-kissed cheeks. Satisfied with our accomplishments for the day we returned to Lazy Lizard, where we’ll spend the next two evenings posted up in Cabin 13.
Day 10,218. Canyonlands tomorrow.
