Las Vegas: 301 miles

I still can’t tell you a thing about Escalante, UT, but that was to be expected.  After a quick shower at the Padre Hotel it was off to Bryce Canyon.  The park was full of tour buses, RVs and mini-vans.  People were everywhere.  We’re not a huge fan of crowds so we decided to hit up a few viewpoints, soak it all in and get the hell out.  From there, Zion National Park was just around the corner.

Even with scattered raindrops, Zion was just as populated.  We took a deep breath, prepared ourselves to face the masses and headed out.  We started on the Emerald Pool trails where we spent half of our hike stepping aside to let others pass.  Once we had visited the Upper and Lower pools we took a detour to hit up a less popular trail.  Feeling free again, I looked at Angie and we both started singing, “I think we’re alone now …”.  Perfect.

Upon finishing our hike, we took one more quick ride through the park and decided it was time. On our way out we stopped in Springdale for some Mexican grub. The tomatillo salsa, spicy. The veggie tacos, delicious.  My Bud Light, refreshing.  Next stop, Vegas, where we’d be staying with Diane, also known as the Raw Auzzie.

When we arrived in Vegas flash flood warnings were screaming from every cell phone in the house.  We grabbed a bottle of wine, curled up in blankets and headed to the back patio to watch the storm.  With a Red Rocks adventure on the horizon I called it early and left it to Diane and Ang to finish off the vino.  I am pretty sure they were successful.

Day 10,220.  Off to Red Rocks, hoping the weather holds.
