Tuesday morning we crept our way out of LA and hit the Pacific Coast Highway. 189 miles later we landed in San Luis Obispo. The original plan was to post up for the evening, but we were too drained to enjoy everything that SLO had to offer. After a mostly raw, entirely vegan dinner at Bliss Café we decided it was in our best interest to keep on truckin’.
As we made our way north the sky grew darker and the curves in the road became sharper. It was time to call it. We pulled into Rugged Point Inn in San Simeon where we managed to snag one of the last three available rooms. After setting our things down we posted up on a bluff, watched the cars wind by and listened to the waves crashing below us. I turned to Ang, “I can’t wait to wake up and see where the hell we are”.
High expectations, met.
This morning we did a “warm up” hike to check out the black sand beaches below us. It was our steepest climb of the day, but not necessarily the most rewarding. From Big Creek Bridge to McWay Falls the California coastline failed to disappoint. More than anything it felt amazing to be back outside and moving again. With my late twenties creeping up on me in just a matter of hours, three days of binge drinking took its toll. Back on track.
Day 10,226. Nearing our final stop.
