Pura Vida.

When you’re from the Upper Peninsula, flying home for the holidays is often synonymous with expensive, delayed and frustrated. This year, it was time for something different. With the approval of Mom and Pop Cherrette, the search for the perfect destination began. We knew we wanted to be together. We knew we wanted to be warm. We knew we wanted to get out of the U, S, of A.

Costa Rica it was.

From the jungle to the city, we packed as much into seven days as we could. Each day bringing a new opportunity for at least one of us to step outside of our comfort zone. I think my mom, who has a known fear of heights, took the cake when she agreed to leap 200ft, supported only by a rope. Add that to the list of things I never thought I would see.

After a week rafting, exploring, indulging and laughing, returning to the real world was no easy task. It was great to have the family (plus one) together again. In a new place. Without the normal distractions. I look forward to the next adventure. Iceland, anyone?

Pura vida.
