Forever Paisley

As a Libra I never know what kind of weather I’ll get on my birthday. Many years are bright and colorful, while others are stormy and grey. This year as I marched towards 33, it was looking as if I was going to hit the jack pot. So, when Dan asked me what I wanted to do to celebrate I asked for a night in a yurt. With him. And, our pups.

Off to Christmas, MI we went. After checking into our rustic accommodations we headed towards Paradise Point. We had been warned that the road wasn’t in the best condition, but if I were to put it in my own words I might say it’s one of the shittiest roads I’ve ever traveled. Dan said it was a cake walk compared to “every road” in Kenya. In either case I was glad we had the truck instead of the Jetta.

Upon emerging from the woods we cleaned ourselves up {at least by Yooper standards} and made our way to Tracey’s for dinner. I won’t lie I had my doubts. I’m admittedly a food snob and moving back to the UP has been a {major} adjustment on my palette. Yet, my sister told me it would be worth it and so … we went.

The crab stuffed mushrooms. My potato chip encrusted whitefish. And, those pisco sours?! It was all so fantastic. Dan even went as far as to say that his burger was the best one he had ever tasted {applause}.

One cotton candy sky and a glistening bonfire later, we said goodnight to a fall day well spent. I couldn’t have asked for a better {belated} birthday celebration. With him. And, our pups.

On our way back home we took the long way through Chatham. The weather was dreary, but the contrast of the trees against the grey sky made it a beautiful day for exploring. At one point during our adventure we even managed to snag a family portrait with all four members present. The next step will be getting Rubin and Duncan to look at the camera. Not holding my breath.
