Greece

Angie is still upset about the corkscrew so she went to sleep on it, so I am once again writing you solo. Greece is gorgeous!!! The people are so nice, the area is beautiful, and the culture is very welcoming. We flew in yesterday from Rome … we had a great time there but I was glad to move on. There is a lot of history there but it is very dirty and the men, though they have nice hair, are a little too forward for my liking.

We walked around aimlessly for a while and ended up near the top of the Acropolis where we had an amazing view of the entire city. We strolled down through the markets and ended up catching a late dinner at a small cafe. They had a live two man band, people were dancing, it was perfect. Angie said “this is so greek, I love it” … I thought it was great. Around 11PM we ventured back to our hostel – Hostel Zues.

This morning we hopped on the 10AM ferry to the Greek Island of Aegina (spelling?). It only took about an hour and when we arrived at the port the atmosphere was very upbeat. We hopped in a taxi to get to our hostel, turns out our driver works on an oil rigger so he has made the trek to the New York port numerous times. I am pretty sure he was so excited to tell us about his island that he took us on the longest route possible, stopping at landmarks, and telling us stories on the way. I think it cost us a bit more, but it was worth it to see someone so passionate about where they live.
We grabbed some lunch and headed straight to the beach where we have spent the past five hours of the day. The beach we went to was on a small cove, the water is so clear and clean. There is also a pool at our hostel so we caught a little afternoon sun here and are planning on heading out a little later on to watch the England vs Sweden football game. We met a girl here from New Orleans who has been on the island for almost a week so she has been showing us around. I cant say it enough, I am in love with this place. We head back to Athens tomorrow where we are going to finish up our sight seeing before we venture off to Cinque Terre for some hiking and kayaking.
Have a wonderful Monday just think of us soaking up the Greek sun … sorry that was torture.
