Another year in the life…

Dad, Joe Cherrette, “Poppa Cherrettie”, and from the glory days of the Palestra locker room, “Grinner”. The boy who fell in love with the outdoors and its fresh water creatures from the heart of the Upper Peninsula. The young man who tore up the ice rink and ventured the trails with his canine companion, Layla. The husband who has embraced the livelihood of his Scandinavian princess (yes mom, I am referring to you), from year one to year 27. The father who tolerated a house of full of three “dynamic” women, teaching his girls to be patient and kind.

From baiting my first hook to casting for Salmon in the Puget Sound. From hiking Sugarloaf Mountain to hitting the dusty trails of the Redwood Forest. From playing hide-and-go-seek to pegging up and down the cribbage board. We haven’t seen it all yet, but we’ve come quite far and I look forward to the experiences and lessons to come. Love you Dad, wishing you the happiest of birthdays on this day. The laptop speakers certainly won’t do this the justice that Billy’s speakers would, but, in any case … this one goes out to you …

Day 9,620. Happy Birthday Dad! Enjoy the dog sled races. I look forward to celebrating next weekend!

Love, Al
